While the book had a plausible and meaty story, it was a bit boring to be honest. But, other than that, the characters were written well as was the story. Nice read, just not a second read.
Not my thing.
I thought I'd branch out in my m/m romance reading by trying a shifter, mpreg story. This was a short read, so the werewolf world-building was limited, but I did not like what there was of it. But mostly, I'm fairly positive mpreg is not exactly my thing.
I'm not sure how to rate this. Supposedly, three stars means "I liked it." I didn't like it, but that was on me. But the technical writing aspect wasn't bad (only one or two noticeable typos, and no random POV shifts which I always appreciate) so I'm going with three stars.
I was surprised at how well this story flowed, the depth of the characters, and how much I enjoyed reading it. The theme of an omega wolf shifter being pregnant and on the run from an abusive relationship isn't new. Winter may be gorgeous in a slim small swimmers build type way, but he is also smart and resourceful.
Levi is a lone wolf shifter, has accepted the assignment to hunt Winter down and return him to his alpha. Of course Levi is the opposite end of gorgeous with yummy alpha muscles on a towering frame. Powerful, resourceful, and confident. I'm sure he's flashing his chest on the cover, it's something he does quite a bit in the story. Anyway, the two meet, trust is conditional and their relationship builds slowly. The result is a well written and relaxing read. - Dan's Wife
Spoiler Ahead This was a really good book and one of the things that I like KU because I get to read books like this one when I can't afford to buy them. Winter is an omega werewolf that is on the run from his Alpha and he is also pregnant. Levi is an Alpha male without a pack who left home when his sister died he has one shot to get back in to his pack by finding and bring Winter back to his Alpha Marshall. Levi doesn't know all of the things that Marshall did to Winter and the more time he spends with Winter he is starting to see that he wasn't what Marshall told him he was which was stupid and lazy and even spoiled. The first sex scenes between these two was hot including the knotting. When Marshall showed up and tired to force Winter to go with him and that's when Levi stepped in. This book was well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. This was my first time reading this author and not my last.
I loved Winter for his sweetness and his devotion to his unborn child. The mentions of him cradling his rounded stomach with protective hand were so touching. He was smart and had to have been tough and resourceful to have made it as far and for as long as he had. Levi, on the other hand, is fairly cold-blooded. He's turned a blind eye to all the evidence that he's tricking Winter back into the clutches of a bad man. Even after his reversal I just didn't bond to him. I felt like, until the very end, he was acting on his own behalf and motivations rather than compassionate or loving ones. I did find it unusual and very refreshing that Levi is able to find Winter sexy even six months pregnant. Usually these omegas are slim and practically virginal but here is one carrying another alpha's child and Levi is definitely attracted to him. The epilogue was a nice way to end the story although I could see potential for the author to write another book about this couple.
I found myself laughing at a few points. All-in-all I enjoyed reading it. Please keep it up.
A well written and developed story! Easy to follow the plot as the Author made sure that the story lines and the characters were well developed! I started reading and 2.5 hours later I was still sitting in my chair reading the last few pages. Kept me entertained and awake and for me that says a lot.
